Queiroz: United More Professional Than Madrid

The Portuguese had an unsuccessful spell in charge at the Bernabeu in the 2003-04 season, but says that working at United is far more pleasurable because those in higher positions don't meddle - and that includes Sir Alex Ferguson.

"On my first day at Carrington (United's training ground), Alex introduced me to the group and told me: 'Get on with it'", Queiroz told Le Monde.

Coaches In Control

"Since that moment, he has never interfered with my work.  And when things are going bad, Alex never lets me down.  The big difference with United and Real is that at Madrid the directors and the press want to control the club.  And the chairmen think they know football!

"At United, the only bosses of the team are coaching staff members.  A few days ago we lost at home against our arch-rivals Manchester City," continued Queiroz.  "We were able to think and work in the days after, but after such a defeat it would have been impossible in Madrid."
